Education
Other graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
upon hire Required Or
Associate degree Preferred.
Experience
1 Year radiologic technologist experience Preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist Either by the TDH
or TMB Upon Hire Required And
ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists 6 Months
Required And
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent
patient care and maintained quarterly Required
Skills
Communication, computer, venipuncture
Position Responsibilities Texas Health Radiographers are
responsible for performing complex procedures including age related
criteria and developmental considerations, explaining procedures to
patient or guardian/family member prior to exam. Processing and
manipulating images, analyzing image quality, troubleshooting,
making technique adjustments or repeating procedures as needed.
In addition to the required qualifications, a successful
Radiographer will
assess and recognize the patient's emotional, physical,
developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions.
establish age appropriate patient care plan that coordinates
multiple rehab disciplines into a unified overarching plan of care
that adheres to regulatory requirements.
prepare room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies).
check physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out
procedures.
handle patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and
monitor patient during imaging.
operate, care for and maintain equipment.
administer contrast media and other medications in accordance with
medication administration guidelines.
