Role Summary:

The Marketing Analytics Specialist is responsible for executing assigned coordination tasks, analytical tasks and research to meet business objectives from a marketing perspective. The analyst works with large amounts of data and executes market analytics to support industry, marketing, product, pricing and marketing communications strategy. These positions will report to a Director of Regional Strategy and dotted line to Director of Strategic Marketing in one of the business platforms or functional areas.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support regional product governance role tasks and action coordination and execution plans
  • Conduct data analysis, data visualization, presentations and distribution of information in response to requests from marketing leaders
  • Provide rapid, fact-based and actionable data analytics support for customer, market, product, industry, and/or regional data to support improved decision-making

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Build execution plans and coordinate individual actions and reporting for key activities under the direction of the regional product director which will span functional areas
  • Perform Advanced Analyses using various data sets
  • Analyze large structured data sets using advanced Excel-based, PowerBI-based, SQL or other tools
  • Link content from multiple internal (and external, where available) databases to develop improved understanding of market and customer segments as well as the installed base (for AM) through visualization tools and dashboards
  • Design and Package analytical outputs
  • Develop mechanisms to display meaningful information, including comparison grids, heat maps, dashboards, and various other visualization methods
  • Generate wireframes, interfaces and structural elements of visualizations to bring meaning to data through generation of PowerBI dashboards to explain / standardize critical information and show trends
  • Develop Process-Based capabilities
  • Adopt and institutionalize standard analysis tools and assessment models
  • Use data management tools, and/or Alteryx to make data management more repeatable, consistent, communicable and efficient
  • Develop processes, procedures and policies to improve data gathering, analysis and intelligence dissemination by leveraging insights from repeated data requests
  • Design, prepare and communicate common templates, tools, and visualizations (dashboards)

Examples of analyses and visualizations may include:

Market Insights

  • Conduct market sizing, market share estimates, industry-specific segment analysis, project forecast analysts, opportunity studies, etc., using internal large databases to identify and/or prioritize growth markets and segments

Business and Customer Insights

  • Conduct analysis of installed base, historical bookings, sales and other financial data to derive trends and provide insights into changes in the customer base by region, customer type, sales channel, product type, price, etc.

Product Management Insights

  • For specific products, use wall-to-wall margin and standard costing data to analyze profitability of operations and channels to market, as well as products by region
  • Use installed base and aftermarket data to compare market penetration and entitlement opportunities for OE products

Pricing Insights

  • “Slicing/dicing” of data on price, margin, and costs to understand pricing opportunities
  • Data analysis to compare prices within price groups and product lines to identify opportunities

Marketing Communications

  • Analyze and assess performance of product marketing campaigns and translate quantitative and qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the campaign strategy
  • Create Digital Analytics KPI reports, dashboards to monitor website traffic, social media traction and gauge customer engagement and conversions???????

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing required
  • Advanced degree in Business, Statistics, or Analytics preferred
  • 2-5 years’ previous engineering, analytical, or marketing experience
  • Product/solution marketing experience a plus

Requirements:

  • Deep analytical expertise using tools such as Excel (and advanced add-ins), PowerBI, and SQL
  • Ability to analyze data, leverage new insights and support development of critical b-to-b marketing and product strategies
  • Expertise in development of a variety of analytics and charts/graphs to support decisions and identify opportunities
  • Familiarity with product and business performance metrics
  • Strong communicator, especially in written form (PowerPoint, PowerBI, and Excel)
  • Rapid turnaround of briefing materials on information and analytical requests
  • Some domain-specific knowledge in one of Pumps, Valves, Seals or Aftermarket Services

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Experience with additional statistical and analytics packages and visualization tools/approaches
  • Experience with primary/secondary research methods, both offline and online
  • Knowledge of Flowserve target market segments
  • Knowledge of Flowserve competitive products and services
