Surgical Tech Location: Rowlett, TX Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,984 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/13/2026 About the Position Job Title: Surgical Technologist 1 Profession: Surgical Technologist Specialty: Surgical Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 5 years License: Not specified Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), CST Must-Have: 5 years of experience. Experience with ENT and Vascular procedures. Description: The Surgical Technologist 1 functions in the inter-operative phase of patient care to expedite surgical procedures. This position assists the surgical team through the use of equipment and instrumentation to ensure that the operating room environment is safe. Surgical Technologists prepare required equipment and ensure it is functioning properly. They discuss any special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in to ensure proper preparation of instruments. The operative site is prepared by aseptically cleaning and clipping the patient as needed. Surgical Technologists maintain an organized instrument table to avoid damage and discrepancies. They identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies immediately. The operating room is set up according to surgical procedure schedules, arranging sterile setups of instruments and supplies. They ensure the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures. Surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and miscellaneous items are performed according to established policies. They anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures. Sterile supplies and equipment are passed to surgeons and assistants during operations. Surgical Technologists assist with draping and positioning the patient. Surgical specimens are received and passed off to the circulating nurse while verifying the source. They assist with the placement of surgical dressings following case completion. At the end of procedures, surgical instrumentation is disassembled and appropriately disposed of. They prepare soiled instrumentation for transportation to the decontamination area. The cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, maintenance, and preparation of surgical instruments are ensured. Operating rooms are cleaned after each case, and equipment is returned to storage areas. Infection control policies and regulatory requirements are followed to maintain a safe work environment. Proper orientation and knowledge of all equipment and instrumentation prior to patient use is ensured. Successful completion of an accredited surgical technologist program is preferred. Knowledge of infection prevention and regulatory sterilization standards is necessary. Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
