Beach Street , Haltom City, TX, 76137 USAReporting to the F-35 Landing Gear Project Head, the designer will be responsible for developing Landing Gear designs in response to military customer requirements and Collins design methodologies. Designer will conduct trade studies, layouts, tolerance stack-ups, technical writing, and detailed part design and definition.Primary Responsibilities:Conducts design of Landing Gear and Systems components working within an integrated product development team and coordinating with divisional engineering to ensure product excellence and integrity is achieved.Customer / SuppliersLiaise with customer/suppliers for all design related issuesFoster strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency and credibilityWork through requirements compliance and verification and validation activitiesDesign TasksGenerates design documentation such as tolerance stack-ups, developmental and kinematic assemblies, interface agreements and proximity sensing analysisGenerates layouts and conducts trade studies to determine optimal design solutionsGenerate detailed part and assembly definition drawings and models/FTA using CATIA V5Create associated parts lists supporting part definitionInvestigates design related issues and develops effective solutionsDevelop Landing Gear and Landing Gear mechanisms from customer specifications considering regulatory requirements and Collins Engineering methodologies.Present designs at internal design reviews to ensure the design meets requirements and expectationsGenerates test requirements and supports the test lab for design related testsDesign to requirements and work with engineering team on requirements managementProblem ResolutionPerforms Engineering investigations into failures and participates in Root Cause and Corrective ActionEnsure timely and satisfactory resolution of problemsComplianceComplies with all EH and ethics policies and guidelines and conducts themselves in a safe and ethical manner.Maintains compliance to ITAR and regulatory requirementsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations ORAdvanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience ORIn absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is requiredMust be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holderPreferred Qualifications:Experience with GD (ASME Y14.5) and familiar with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41CATIA V5 detailed modeling and FTA generation experienceExperience in new product development with a background in kinematics, mechanics, and hydraulicsWorking knowledge of high strength materials, manufacturing processes, and surface treatmentsLanding gear & related systems experienceAircraft in-service support experienceExperience with Matrix One and SmarTeam PDM systemsDemonstrated ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levelsCollins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
